The Sri Lanka Sustainability Energy Authority (SLSEA), was established to drive energy efficiency throughout the country by proactively identifying sustainable energy resources that could generate energy in an effective, efficient and eco-friendly manner.

Project overview

This proposed 100 MW Solar Power Development Initiative is the first-ever solar energy park in Sri Lanka to be combined with 27 km 132 kV transmission line. The project will be the first large-scale solar power park in the country delivering 148 GWh of clean energy annually to the country.

    • As a tropical country, Sri Lanka experiences year-round sunshine, especially around the flat terrain closer to the coastal belts, with high Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) 1,247-2, 106 kWh/m2

Project/ownership structure

Transmission line: Build and Transfer (Design will be provided by CEB)
Solar power plant: Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT)

Project incentives:

0% duty & taxes on imported project related items during the project implementation period
Benefits under Power Purchasing Agreement (PPA) by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB)

Dividends to non-resident entities are exempt from income and withholding taxes

100% repatriation of capital and profits permitted
